About me

My name is Agnieszka Kuś. I am a licensed Warsaw city guide and proud resident in the capital city of Poland. As a professional guide and interpreter I enjoy sharing passion for Polish culture, cuisine and art with people coming to my birthplace from all over the world

Who am I?

I am a university trained historian and Italian philologist working as a full time guide (for the city and major museums) and interpreter with 18 years of experience. I have graduated from Warsaw University with a degree in history and Italian philology. I have also studied Jewish-Polish relations at the Polish Academy of Science. Currently, I am researching history of Polish food.

In my professional life I combine my academic background with wide-ranging interests comprising history, modern art and classical music. If you think of visiting Warsaw, I am the right person to ask about Frederick Chopin, Witold Lutoslawski and Wladyslaw Szpilman or to have a walk following the traces of WWII. And, of course, I can talk about Polish (and eat it) for hours…

As a guide, I work with Renata Kurek, who is a part time guide. She has graduated from Warsaw University with degrees in English and Italian philologies. She is a full time IB Diploma Programme teacher during the school year but every summer she devotes her time to making people passionate about our home town, its complex past and ever changing present.

Certificates and references:

Since January 2014 tourists guides and tour managers/leaders have no longer been among the regulated professions in Poland which means that they are no required to hold licences. However, we started our careers before well before that day and we hold our old licenses. What is more, some museums award special licences to local guides interested in entering this venues with individuals or groups.

I have been showing Warsaw and Poland to great many fabulous people. Meeting people getting to know them and seeing my country through their eyes is one of the most interesting thing about being a guide. This is Poland as seen by Ishay Govender-Ypma,  a freelance travel, food and culture journalist and writer, blogger from South Africa with whom I worked in 2016 “Exploring Poland”

Recently, I have worked a lot with the Warsaw City Promotion Bureau and with life style or culinary journalists who came for study tours. This is how I have met Joe Warwick: exploring Warsaw with Joe Warwick

In 2013 I had a pleasure to show Warsaw to Stanley Péan and Jacques Kuba Séguin, jazz musicians from Canada who actually wrote a song about their experience in the Polish capital city.  Here you can find links to Stanley Péan blog about the trip to Poland: Jour 10: Cracovie, nous voici…

Last but not least, my services are recommended by the Warsaw City Promotion Bureau: Chopin’s Warsaw
